Breaking the diet

I've been really, really good so far with following my diet.  I hadn't broken it yet...until today, anyway.  I had the day off and ran a few errands and just didn't feel much like cooking dinner.  Plus, it had been awhile since Matt and I had really taken the time to enjoy each other's company, so we decided to have a date night.

I know I've only been on the diet for a little while, but I think that spoiling yourself every once in awhile isn't a bad thing.  (It's the spoiling yourself three times a week that causes problems.)  Plus, if the end result was a lovely evening out with my husband, I think it should be okay.  (Right?)  And even if it's not, he got me this lovely necklace while we were out and about so I can just think about how pretty it is instead of how I just ate waaaay more calories than were allotted today:

Pretty necklace :)

In any event, I'm going to work out extra hard tonight to make up for some of it, and I'm going to continue working out every day and go back to the healthy stuff tomorrow.  A big positive to all of this is that I did not drink soda at all.  I've stuck to water, skim milk, fruit juice (every once in awhile) or nothing which I am very proud of.  It is really hard to give up soda, but it's been smooth sailing for me so far.  I think that being in Vienna and not having access to Dr. Pepper or Mt. Dew made a huge difference.  I didn't have it there for 8 days and I was fine.  If I can manage doing something healthier for me while on vacation, I can continue to do it when I come back.

Plus a few other notes:
-Today is 11/11/11 which is kind of awesome (if you choose to ignore the fact that it's actually 11/11/2011, which most people do).
-It also happens to be my big brother Tom's birthday.  Since I know this one in German... Alles Gute zum Geburtstag, TommyPastrami!
-Coincidentally, it is also Leonardo DiCaprio's birthday.  I learned that they shared a birthday right after Titanic came out and I have never forgotten.

Das ist alles für heute.  (That's all for today.)

Tschüss!

  1. Don't think of it as "breaking your diet." Don't think of it as a diet in fact :) Just a change in your lifestyle. Studies actually show treating yourself every now and then aids the weight loss process. Even if one day doesn't go as planned, just remember that the next day is a clean slate!

  2. I stumbled upon your blog and think it's super exciting! Love the colors and I'm glad you threw in some Deutsch at the end. I was worried "phew..."

What's going on with general mayhem though?!?!?! Date night should be all about mayhem although I guess not having the specifics helps keep it general ;-) HAHAHA totally lol.

    Anyway keep up the work!

    P.S. rockin font!!!!!!
